Allan D. Kleinman, an attorney with Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff for 55 years, died February 2 at age 85. Mr. Kleinman contributed to many causes and often assisted friends. For the past 12 years, he cared for his wife, who has Alzheimer's disease.
Fae Kaufman (née Ornstein), who co-owned a frame and art supply shop, died Jan. 28 at age 86. Mrs. Kaufman had also worked as an educator and dietitian. An avid reader and painter, her many interests ranged from art and history to zoology.
Ava Arbitman Hodous, former project director for The Jewish Education Center of Cleveland's Taste of Judaism classes, died Jan. 28 in Sarasota, Fla. She was 56. Mrs. Hodous was involved in other outreach activities, and she welcomed many for Shabbat dinner each week. Sherri Kaufman, coordinator of the Taste of Judaism classes, said serving the Jewish community was very important to Mrs. Hodous. "I often used to say to myself, ‘What would Ava do?' when I was trying to find the best thing to do in a situation."
