David Ariel steps down at Siegal College
Dr. David S. Ariel has announced he will step down from the presidency of Siegal College at the end of 2007 to pursue his scholarly interests.
He will be on sabbatical from Jan.-Dec. 2007. Following the sabbatical, he will become president emeritus and will continue to serve Siegal College in a consulting capacity.
Ariel has been president of Siegal since 1982, when it was known as Cleveland College of Jewish Studies. During his tenure, the college increased enrollment and financial support, achieved accreditation, and developed its faculty and staff.
“I look forward to working on my next book during the sabbatical,” says Ariel, who is author of Kabbalah: The Mystic Quest in Judaism. “After 25 years as president of this wonderful institution, it is time for me to pursue new dreams. I look forward to working with my colleagues to bring about a smooth transition over the next 18 months.”
A management committee consisting of senior staff and several members of the executive committee of the college's board of trustees will be formed to manage college affairs on an interim basis.
