Two Canadian theater festivals underway

Shaw Festival

Running through October 28, this year’s Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, features 10 shows by new and seasoned playwrights that highlight everything from the life of Joan of Arc to the foibles of Irish dilettantes. For tickets, 800-511-SHAW or gb.shawfest.com.

‘Saint Joan’

An adaptation of the original farce by Feydeau, Panych reinterprets the comedy that ensues when two friends and their various accomplices are stranded at the play’s namesake hotel.

‘The Circle’

A daughter has to choose between “true love” and responsibility while her mother reflects on her own past experience with the same predicament.

‘The Philanderer’

Stratford Festival
