Ex-staffer sues Perez Hilton
Menorah Park is tangentially involved in another lawsuit in addition to the R.H. Myers suit.
Diane Wargo, a former Menorah Park employee, filed suit July 14 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court against popular online gossip columnist Perez Hilton.
She blames him for termination of her employment. Hilton (né Mario Lavandeira), who calls himself “The Queen of All Media,” has risen to fame over the past few years for his snarky blogging of celebrity news. According to cleveland.com, Wargo sent Hilton an e-mail from her work account filled with anti-gay slurs criticizing him and actress Angelina Jolie. Hilton posted Wargo’s e-mail on his website, leading to a deluge of angry e-mails from Hilton fans to both Wargo and Menorah Park.
The senior living center fired Wargo for inappropriate use of her work e-mail. In her suit, Wargo is claiming she thought her e-mail would be anonymous and Hilton is directly to blame for her being fired.
Hilton has since posted on his site an e-mail from Menorah Park’s human resources director Jamie Herbst that apologizes for and “renounces” Wargo’s initial e-mail, stating it was sent “without the knowledge or consent of Menorah Park.”
