ROLE MODELS. A mean-spirited, immature and blatantly offensive comedy with no regard for political correctness. And for that reason, it’s absolutely hilarious! This is not to say director David Wain’s film doesn’t have a heart. It does. It’s just not as omnipresent as the nastiness that makes “Role Models” so funny.
Losers Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott) are court-ordered to perform 150 hours of community service as mentors to troubled youths at a place called Sturdy Wings. They are matched with a fantasy role playing nerd (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and a foul-mouthed brat (Bobb’e J. Thompson). Young Thompson, spouting obscenities, steals the show.
R (crude and sexual content, strong language and nudity). 1:33.
3 stars.
