from the editor

In November, I became engaged to my boyfriend of nearly three years. The planning of jstyle WEDDINGS coincided with the planning of my own wedding, making the issue especially meaningful for me. Each gown we selected for inclusion in the magazine was a dress I was seeing through the eyes of a bride, every Jewish tradition was something I wanted to know more about, each “love story” echoed my excitement for my own big day this spring.

The outdoor ceremony was just minutes away from getting underway. The bride and her maids were completing their last-minute primping before walking down the long aisle surrounded by birch trees. the reception

“i dieted all week to squeeze into my cocktail dress for my cousin’s wedding,” laments University Heights resident Sheila Bowman. “But my will power left me during the reception when waiters began making the rounds with luscious, tempting appetizers like kosher pastrami ramaki, chicken egg rolls, mini-frankfurters in buns, and mushroom-stuffed phyllo dough. Just to be social, I tasted everything.”

"I do! I do!"

“Tradition, Tradition,” sings Tevye the milkman in “Fiddler on the Roof.” And nowhere is Jewish tradition more lovingly followed than during the marriage ceremony.

Notes

You’ve said yes to the dress. And to the rabbi, flowers, music, menu, color scheme, invitations, and 1,001 other details. The wedding and reception were everything you dreamed they’d be. And now, finally, all the work related to it is over, right? No. You absolutely must thank everyone who helped you or gave you a gift to start your new life as a married couple.
