Cleveland Jewish News theater writer Fran Heller captured a second-place award as Best Critic in Ohio for newspapers under 100,000 circulation. The award came in the 2012 Best of Ohio Journalism Awards program organized by the Society of Professional Journalists chapters in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus.
This is Heller’s third consecutive year of receiving honors in this category in the statewide contest. Heller, of Shaker Heights, has been covering theater and visual arts for the CJN since 1991.
The award will be given at a luncheon on Sunday, Sept. 30, in Cincinnati Reds’ Great American Ballpark. The complete SPJ winners list is at www.spjawards.org.
