It was a picture-perfect morning July 14 to celebrate a very colorful couple, Mary and Murray Berkowitz. More than 310 of their family, friends and B’nai Jeshurun Congregation supporters gathered for a bountiful brunch to honor their many contributions and commitment to the synagogue over the decades.

Guests were there to not only support the synagogue, but also to become patrons of the arts, as Murray’s talented cousin, Marlene Burns’ brilliantly colored Judiaic paintings were on display and on sale.

Many of the couple’s contributions were achieved by cooking and organizing food-related events, so it was only fitting that the tribute book/synagogue directory contain some of Mary and Murray’s greatest recipes. Hello, watermelon gazpacho.

There were even a few patrons there just because Mary was their decorator. Her talent was on display in the social hall with her luscious, floral tablescapes. It was like the Greenbrier Hotel came to Cleveland. A beautiful vision for a beautiful couple.
