Beth Israel-The West Temple in Cleveland re-opened for Shabbat on Dec. 14 with a mini-concert by mandolinists Jay Krasnow and Chaim Caron after the service. The building had been closed for cleaning since an electrical fire in the temple library on Nov. 4. In the weeks between the fire and the re-opening, the congregation had celebrated Shabbat at Westshore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River and in members’ homes. Both Krasnow and Caron have ties to Beth Israel. Caron is the son of temple founding member Herb Caron and Krasnow has attended services at the temple.
