More than 250 guests were in attendance at the Tri-C Foundation JazzFest Legends Gala on June 27 in the Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square. The event, celebrating the 2019 JazzFest legends Margot James Copeland, chair and CEO, KeyBank Foundation; Max Dehn, jazz advocate; and Joe Hunter, pianist and jazz educator, raised funds for music scholarships for students in the Cuyahoga Community College creative arts programs.
It was also the kickoff to the 40th anniversary celebration of Tri-C JazzFest from June 27-29. Following the reception, guests attended a concert by Tower of Power, a funk and soul group. With the help of the Tri-C Foundation and its donors, the college awarded a record $3.2 million in scholarships to 2,700 students during the last academic year.
