Malia Lewis and Margot Damaser

Malia Lewis and Margot Damaser, adoptive parents and members of Adoption Network Cleveland from Cleveland Heights, were nominated by U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge to be one of the 180 honorees for the congressional Angels in Adoption for 2019.

November was National Adoption Awareness Month.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s Angels in Adoption program recognizes individuals, couples and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions on behalf of children in need of families, according to a news release.

As adoptive parents of biological siblings Claude and Ella, Lewis and Damaser are part of a transracial, Jewish family and have navigated many legal, cultural and social complexities, the release said.
