Sue and Mitch Frankel of Beachwood received the 2017 ORT America Maimonides Award for outstanding community service Oct. 22 at the Ohio Region’s 46th annual brunch.
“We are pleased to honor Sue and Mitch with this award,” Ohio region president Gary S. Desberg said. “Both Sue and Mitch have made valuable contributions to our community in many ways, and have an impressive commitment to and involvement in the Cleveland Jewish community, to Israel and to education. The impact of their dedication and commitment to the greater community can be felt in many of our institutions.”
Mitch Frankel has been on the local board for 25 years, including serving as president. In 1989, he was honored by the national organization with the ORT America’s Paul Bernick New Leadership Award.
“World ORT Kadima Mada is strengthening Israel by educating its most vulnerable youth,” ORT America CEO Jeffrey Cooper. "Because of minimal government funding for Kfar Silver, contributions are needed for these improvements.”
Co-chairs for the event were Trish and Mark Adler, Nancy Shaw Goldsmith and Jim Goldsmith, Beth and Frank Rosenberg, and Rose and Steve Viny.
