The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held its Dream Gala May 4 at the InterContinental Hotel – Cleveland. The event raised funds for the foundation. Among those attending was Skye Garfinkel, 6, a student at Gross Schechter Day School in Pepper Pike, whose family belongs to Park Synagogue in Cleveland Heights and Pepper Pike. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 5. She and Tyler Carcelli, 10, will represent Northeast Ohio in a 160-member delegation of peers and celebrity advocates in Washington, D.C., at the JDRF 2019 Children’s Congress from July 8 to July 10.
