Among the 250 cyclists who traveled to Krakow, Poland, to participate in the 2019 Ride for the Living June 28 were members of the Kadis family, who again completed the 60-mile bicycle ride from Auschwitz to JCC Krakow.

The annual fundraising event was inspired by JCC Krakow member Robert Desmond, who rode his bike 1,350 miles from London to Auschwitz visiting World War II sites of liberation along his way.

The group biked along the Vistula River wearing bright jerseys displaying its mission, “Building a Jewish future in Krakow.” About $210,000 was raised in the fundraiser.

Following the Ride, the JCC Krakow held a 750-person Shabbat dinner where the Kadis family was recognized for their support of Krakow’s Jewish community.
