On June 29, 275 Medworks “groupies” made their annual summer pilgrimage to the picture-perfect backyard of Dr. Jeffrey and Jackie Ponsky to celebrate “in the spirit of music, mission and unconditional care.”
The 10th annual Medfest journey began with craft cocktails served in Mason jars at the valet station. A walk down a long, sawdust path led to the first appetizer station in the woods, followed by a volunteer docent-led jaunt across a heart vegetable garden, aka Medworks Pharm. Guests enjoyed live music overlooking the pond and bid on silent auction items in the outdoor pavilion.
In the dinner tent, farm-fresh hors d’oeuvres and plated landscape dinners were created by Ben Bebenroth of Spice Catering Co. who has entered a partnership with Medworks to educate Cleveland’s kids about nutrient-dense food.
Medwish CEO Jerry Belinson was confident the event would raise significant funds to continue the goal of providing free, no-questions-asked health care to Northeast Ohioans. More importantly, he was hopeful the evening would bring more new faces and relationships to further their essential mission and form collaborative relationships.
As evidenced in the barn-turned-dance-hall, many collaborative relationships and dance moves were formed by evening’s end.
