ORT America held its seventh annual NextGen Trivia Night May 23 for about 100 attendees in the 25-45ish age range. To win, the six-player team required a wealth of knowledge to answer questions ranging from Ginger Spice’s real name to facts about the history and mission of ORT.  To make it fair, emcee Marty Shankle instructed all players to place their cell phones in a bowl in the center of each table. After hosting the trivia night for four years, he knows what he’s doing. Competition was fierce between such teams as Trivia Newton John, the Full ORT Press and the OAF’s, an all-mom team from Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School. Perhaps the biggest suppORTers were from the Kadis family. Larry Kadis is ORT’s national president and his son, Alex Kadis, was the co-chair of the evening along with Ben Golsky. Money raised from a silent auction will support a school in Kfar Silver, Israel. By the way, Ginger Spice’s real name is Geri Halliwell. The Cleveland Jewish News was a sponsor of the event.
