“And they’re off!” It was a night at the races as The Lillian and Betty Ratner Montessori School held its annual Kaleidoscope Gala at Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights. With the Kentucky Derby as a backdrop, guests donned big, bold derby hats and sipped on mint juleps as they watched a live broadcast of the race and bid on silent auction items. Later, after a southern buffet dinner, featuring barbecue brisket of beef, cornbread and a salad bar, guests enjoyed a live auction and dessert. The Ratner School, founded in 1963, is in Pepper Pike. It is an independent private school serving toddlers through eighth grade. It lists as its mission: to empower a diverse community of students to find joy in their learning and to become their best selves.
