Jacob Burkons will become a bar mitzvah Saturday, Sept. 21, at Park Synagogue. Jacob is the son of Stacey Beugen and Zackary Burkons of Cleveland, and the brother of Sydney and Olivia Burkons. Jacob is the grandson of Susan Beugen, Sandy and David Burkons, and of blessed memory, David Beugen. Jacob attends The Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School. He enjoys hockey, soccer, basketball, flag football, playing Xbox, bike riding, and spending time with his friends and his animals. For his mitzvah project, Jacob made homemade Dog Gourmet Dog Biscuits, sold them at farmers markets and then donated a portion of the proceeds to #4MOM, a charity started by his family, pro-baseball players, Braden Bishop and Hunter Bishop, for their mom. Their mom, Suzy, has early onset Alzheimer’s (diagnosed at 52) and #4MOM helps to raise awareness, money for education and a cure for this terrible disease.
