Ruth Leonore Cohen Begleiter (nee Cohen), 91, passed away Aug. 8, 2019, in Cincinnati. She lived in the Cleveland area for 60 years.

Born Dec. 1, 1927, in Cleveland to Meta and Sam Cohen, Ruth graduated attended, and later graduated, from Cleveland Heights High School and Shaker Heights High School. She went on to receive her associate degree from a business school in Cleveland.

A co-owner of Premier Sales Army Navy Store, Ruth was a member of Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple. She loved movies, learning about current events and listening to music.

Ruth was a great mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved life, overcame obstacles and persevered. Those who met Ruth were overwhelmed with her kindness and compassion.

Ruth is survived by her children, Steven Begleiter of Denver and Lisa Shewmon of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Derek Shewmon, Michael Shewmon, Ali Shewmon Alurovic, Makhesh Begleiter and Metika Begleiter; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ezra Shewmon; sister, Evelyn Beckerman of Miami, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Kate Siegrist; son-in-law, Dave Shewmon; grandson-in-law, Bryce Alurovic; and granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Shewmon. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Jack Begleiter; parents, Meta and Sam Cohen; daughter, Melodie Begleiter; and sister, Bea Sultzer of Shaker Heights.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Mayfield Cemetery Section 11 Lot 635 in Cleveland Heights.
