Alan Hartzmark, 92, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away Nov. 11, 2020.
A combined resident of Brandenton and Marblehead, Ohio, Alan was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Cleveland to Joseph and Helen Hartzmark. He graduated from
Cleveland Heights High School, and went on to attend Trinity College and the University of Michigan, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
Alan founded and operated Industrial Tire Company for over 30 years until he sold it in 1984. He patented a mobile press to be able to fix and replace fork lift tires at job sites. After, he managed his real estate properties and personal investments until he passed away.
A member of The Temple-Tifereth Israel, Alan was also a member of Zeta Beta Tau, the Cleveland Engineering Society, the Cleveland Tire Dealers Association, University Heights Masonic Lodge Al Koran 32 Degree Mason and the Elysium Skating Club. He also held various positions: president of the
Cleveland Engineering Society and the president of the Cleveland Tire Dealers Association.
Alan loved swimming, ice skating, country dancing, tennis, boating in both Florida and on Lake Erie, and also maintained his family history through scrapbooks.
Beloved father of Nancy (Marty) Landry, Kathy (Jay) Sokol, Bruce (Cindy Friedman) Hartzmark and Marcy (John) Fekete. Devoted grandfather of Kristen (Frank) Powell, Jennifer (Kevin) Sutphen, Brian (Katie) Kleinman, Karen (Andrew) Porter, Brandon (Jessica) Sokol, Jacob Fekete and Joey Fekete. Great-grandfather of Ashlyn, Dayton, Autumn, Daniel, Ella, Gavin, Eli, Naomi, Tucker and Harper. Dear brother of the late Lee (Dolores) Hartzmark.
Private services were held Nov. 19 at Mayfield Cemetery. No visitation due to COVID-19.
