Jacobson

Henry Jacobson, 98, husband for 68 years to Helen (nee Lazerick, deceased); son of Mollie and Samuel (both deceased); passed away June 15. Brother of Leo (deceased) (Lois).

Henry always cherished his west side roots even after moving to the east side when he was 17. A graduate of Cleveland Heights High School in 1939 and The Ohio State University in 1943, he was sent overseas to serve with the U.S. Army’s 96th infantry in the Pacific during World War II.

After the war, Henry returned to Cleveland and briefly worked in the furniture business before entering the automobile business in 1950, opening a Lincoln-Mercury dealership on the current site of Cleveland Clinic. Henry and Helen met in 1951 and were married soon after.

In 1957, Henry purchased a bankrupt Pontiac store in Bedford and spent the next 35 years operating Jay Pontiac along with Jay Honda, the first Honda Automobile dealership in Ohio. He also was involved in several other businesses, including auto leasing, insurance, furniture rental, motel and real estate.

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Henry is survived by his four children, Dr. Neil (Wendy), Dr. Bruce (Pauline, deceased), Carol (Dr. Arnold) Feltoon and Marc (Shari). Devoted grandfather of Daniel, Aaron, Sarah (Pierre-Yves Kuhn, fiance) Jacobson, Michael (Sarah) Jacobson, Rachel (Jeffrey) Heller, Kimberly (Ayal) Hagay, Julia (Alan Gecht) Leb, David (Shaina Oif) Leb, Dr. Stephen (Dr. Maggie Killeen) Leb, Kevin (Courtney) Jacobson, Katie (Benjamin) Becker and Brian Jacobson; and nine great-grandchildren.
