Carl Kanter, 92, of Beachwood, passed away on Nov. 19, 2019.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Etta (nee Rubin). He was a loving and caring father to his daughters Andrea (Bill) Kanter Grodin and Barbara (Jon) Kanter Shane. He adored his grandchildren Corey and Alex Rubin, and Brad, Ryan and Halle Shane, in addition to his step-grandchildren, Abbey and Nick Greenfield, and Alex and Kali Grodin, plus his beautiful great-grandchildren, Lincoln Greenfield and Reese Grodin.

Carl spent his early childhood in Danzig, Germany, before emigrating with his family to New York City in 1938. He was the son of Erna and William Kanter and brother of Trudy. He was a proud graduate of City College of New York and a member of the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu.

Carl raised his family in Livingston, N.J., and had a successful career as a certified public accountant. He enjoyed a couple of decades of happy retirement in South Florida before moving to Cleveland in 2015.

Carl was musically talented and loved spending time with family and traveling. We are grateful for the happy memories and will miss him.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Family will receive friends following services and interment until 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 21, and from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 22 at the residence of Andrea and Bill Grodin, 19400 S. Woodland Road in Shaker Heights.
