Dr. Martin Krasny, 96, of Beachwood, passed away Aug. 22, 2019, at Montefiore. He was a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area.
Born Dec. 6, 1922, to Frank and Anna Krasny in Cleveland, Martin graduated from John Adams High School, and later received his Bachelor of Science degree from Adelbert College (now Case Western Reserve University) and his DDS degree from the Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine.
Martin went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a private from 1942 to 1944, and later was a captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1954.
After the military, Martin ran his private dental practice, Martin Krasny DDS, from 1954 to 2002.
A member of Temple Emanu El, Martin was involved with Jewish National Fund and was the founder of its garden club.
Martin had a keen interest in the arts and nature. He had a deep love of reading and lifelong learning.
He is survived by his children, Hermine (David) Ostro of Beachwood and Marla (Dr. Steven) Taub of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Stuart Ostro, Zachary (Caroline) Ostro, Jason (Cory) Taub, Dr. Jared (Jessica) Taub and Jillian (Timothy) Hershner; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Rose Ostro and Poppy Asher Taub. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Rita Goodman Krasny; parents, Frank and Anna Krasny; and siblings, Marie Silby, Hyman Krasny, Gertrude Miller and Faye Siegel.
Services were held Aug. 25 at Temple Emanu El. Interment was at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 26 and from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 at the home of Hermine and David Ostro, 2797 Shakercrest Blvd. in Beachwood.
