Saundra “Cookie” Malevan, beloved daughter of the late Eva and Abraham Malevan, passed away Nov. 3, 2021.

She was the sister of the late Jerry (Violet) Malevan and the late Leo (Bernice) Malevan, and is warmly remembered by her nieces, Gail Malevan (Eugene) LeBauer, Nancy Malevan Levy (Gerald Yosowitz and the late Howard A. Levy), Barbara Malevan (Randy) Miller and Roseanne Malevan; and great-nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends who made her life whole.

Cookie graduated from Glenville High School and Western Reserve University’s School of Social Work. She worked as a social worker in the juvenile courts of Cleveland for many years. On weekends, she taught religious school at Brith Emeth Temple in Beachwood. After her retirement, she became a devoted volunteer for many organizations, including as a RedCoat for Playhouse Square. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively around the world, and was always ready for her next adventure whether she went alone or with a friend.

A private graveside burial was held Nov. 5 at Lansing Cemetery in Cleveland.
