Adoring grandmother, proud mother, loving daughter, dedicated sister, steadfast friend, and esteemed colleague, Susan Grody Ruben, born July 27, 1955, died at home with her children at her side on Oct. 13, 2019, due to complications from kidney cancer.
A woman who crafted life to follow her passions, Susan shifted from an early career as a professional french horn musician to become a successful labor and employment attorney.
Later, Susan founded a practice as an arbitrator and mediator. She thrived in the field for decades, including induction into the National Academy of Arbitrators and teaching dispute resolution across the country.
Through it all, Susan’s primary focus was her family and friends, for whom she exuded love, joy and care. Her model teaches us all how to be present with each other and for oneself.
