Stone

Mitzi was born June 8, 1928. He departed on July 29, 2019.

Mitzi was a resident of Cleveland until moving to Akron in 2013. Mitzi was a WWII veteran, serving in Japan. During his over 30-year career with the Federal Government, he was a subject matter expert to numerous US Presidential administrations, including former President Jimmy Carter. He was instrumental in the founding of FEMA. He worked at the NASA Lewis Research Center during the Lunar Landing project. He also worked for the Department of Defense during the opening of Cleveland’s Defense Supply Agency.

He will be dearly missed by children: Rose (Richard) Wilcher, Ken (Nora) Stone, Debra(Ed) Seibert, Andrew Stone (Samantha Hamblen); grandchildren: Salomon, Aviva (Curtis Smiley), Stella, Samuel, Aaron, Dorothy, and Allie; great-grandchildren: Arielle, Caleb, Austin and Madison; brother, Allen (Sandra) Stone; sister-in-law Alice Erickson; plus countless nieces, nephews and others who called him Uncle Mitzi or Grandpa.

Graveside military service was held July 31 at Mount Olive Cemetery.
