I was one of the 16 participants from the Jewish Volunteer Network who went to Beit Shean in February 2015. This was my first trip to Israel and it was such an eye opening and wonderful experience. Living on a kibbutz, meeting families and people all over Beit Shean, and volunteering at the Tomer (elementary) School exposed me to a new way of life. Beit Shean (Valley of the Springs) is a beautiful area with mountains, lakes and thriving agricultural businesses. Being away from major cities gave me a great appreciation of the creativity and entrepreneurship of the residents of the many kibbutz in the area and in particular their agricultural accomplishments. I recommend a visit to Beit Shean to anyone who is visiting Israel.
