Dr. Alan Lichtin was named master clinician at Cleveland Clinic’s annual staff celebration earlier this fall.
Master clinician is one of the Miller Professional Excellence Awards, which acknowledge the dedication, innovation and quality of caregivers from all areas of the organization.
Nomination forms are given to all Cleveland Clinic professional staff. This is the first time Lichtin, who has been on staff at Cleveland Clinic since 1988, has been named master clinician. The Miller Professional Excellence Awards were established in 2000 and there have been 19 previous master clinicians.
Speaking for her husband, Joni Lichtin said, “My husband is very humble. I’ve always referred to him as the last of the ‘Marcus Welbys,’ for those of you who remember the show about the good doctor.”
Other winners include: Dr. Camille Sabella, master educator; Dr. Nima Sharifi, scientific achievement in basic science, Dr. Alok Khorana, scientific achievement in clinical research, Tiffany Buda, nurse of the year; and Torie Biddle, police officer of the year.
