The fourth annual Miles for Mental Health and Wellness Walk to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness in NAMI Geauga County’s countywide programs and services will be held Oct. 5 at 8389 Mayfield Road in Chester Township.
“The walk creates a positive conversation around mental illness, which is critical to ending stigma,” Jenn Bartone, executive director of NAMI Geauga, said in a news release. “It gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for NAMI Geauga by raising much needed funds and awareness.”
Starting at 9 a.m., there will be a wellness symposium and family-friendly entertainment, with the 5k/walk at 11. The walk is rain or shine. A special guest speaker event and light lunch will follow the walk.
Proceeds from the event will support NAMI Geagua’s mission to offer mutual support and empowerment to persons and their families affected by mental illness through education, advocacy and emotional support.
Registration is free. To register as an individual walker or team, call 440-286-6264 or vsiit nami.org/geaugacounty.
