Mustard Seed Market, an Akron-owned retailer of natural and organic products since 1981, is closing its Solon store. The last day of business will be Oct. 30.
Gabe Nabors, CEO of Mustard Seed Market, posted a statement on the company’s Facebook page, explaining the Solon location once held “high expectations.”
“It was the largest natural foods grocery store east of the Mississippi, and the natural foods industry was having double digit growth,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, the store did not develop as we had hoped and today with the increased competition both in brick and mortar stores as well as online, our time has come.”
Nabors, on behalf of his family which has operated the company since its inception, thanked the Solon staff, the community and its customer base for its help over the years “to push health foods to the mainstream.”
While the location prepares to close, it will have shortened hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until Oct. 30.
The Akron locations will remain open.
Mustard Seed Market is at 6025 Kruse Drive in Solon.
