Ian N. Friedman was sworn in as president of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association June 7 at its 12th annual meeting at Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower in Cleveland.
“This event gives us a chance to celebrate Cleveland’s outstanding legal community,” said Rebecca Ruppert McMahon, CEO of the bar association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation, in a news release. “Our meeting theme, the Power of One, is a tribute to the tremendous impact each CMBA member has made and will continue to make within our community, our state and beyond.
“Incoming CMBA president Ian N. Friedman and incoming CMBF president Patrick J. Krebs are stellar examples of individuals whose contributions have helped build a stronger and more just society.”
The 2019-20 bar association officers are: president Ian N. Friedman (Friedman & Nemecek, L.L.C.); president-elect Joseph N. Gross (Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP); vice president Rosalina M. Fini (Cleveland Metroparks); treasurer Ann M. Caresani (BakerHostetler); vice president of diversity and inclusion Valissa Turner Howard (Cuyahoga County Inspector General’s Office); and secretary Rebecca Ruppert McMahon (CEO of the CMBA).
“I am honored to provide my service to the CMBA, the legal profession and the community-at-large,” Friedman said in the release. “This organization is comprised of the finest lawyers and legal professionals in the region, and I experience great joy and satisfaction being surrounded by like-minded professionals who strive daily to make our profession better for the next generation. ... This will be an exciting and productive year as our bar continues to grow and make so many positive changes in our community’s everyday lives.”
The 2019-20 bar foundation officers are: president Patrick J. Krebs (Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP); president-elect Carter E. Strang (Tucker Ellis LLP); vice president of finance John F. Kostelnik (Frantz Ward LLP); and secretary Rebecca Ruppert McMahon (CEO of the CMBF).
“We expect to see continued growth this year through the endowment and expanded areas of programming for our community,” Krebs said in the release. “With strong board representation and the generous contributions of our fellows and donors, we are able to continue to fund the impactful and life-changing programs of the association for the Cleveland community.”
