REAL Trends, a news source for the residential brokerage industry, has ranked Howard Hanna Real Estate Services in Pepper Pike Realtor Adam Kaufman as the No. 1 Realtor by volume in Ohio for 2019. Kaufman was also ranked fifth in the state for individual sales by transaction sides.

Kaufman, a Shaker Heights resident and a member of Park Synagogue in Cleveland Heights and Pepper Pike, said he has consistently been ranked by REAL Trends since it began its rankings six years ago and it is “nice to be recognized for hard work.”

“I’ve done this since I was 18 years old,” said Kaufman, 49. “I love what I do, I still love it. Every day, I get up and say, ‘I’m going to have fun,’ not, ‘I’m going to work.’ That’s the beauty of what I do.”

He said one of the keys to his success is he works harder than anyone else and has more than $1.2 billion in sales.

“That’s the truth,” he said. “I think that hard work pays off. So, the answer would be, no it (the honor) doesn’t surprise me because I still am the last person in the office at the end of the day and the first person in the office at the beginning of the day, seven days a week.”

Kaufman has been with the same company since 1988, though he has not been with Howard Hanna the entire time. Howard Hanna purchased his company about a decade ago. He said the challenge for him, now that he’s at the top, is staying there.

“I always think you need to challenge yourself,” he said. “My only competition is myself. That’s what I believe, but again ... the only bad thing about being No. 1, there’s nowhere else to go but down. You can’t go up. So, if you want to stay there, you got to do the things that are necessary to stay there and that’s work hard.”

Kaufman specializes in selling in the areas of Pepper Pike, Shaker Heights, Beachwood, Moreland Hills, Orange, Gates Mills, Solon, Hudson, Russell, South Russell, Bentleyville, Aurora, Cleveland Heights, Lyndhurst, Bainbridge, Auburn, Twinsburg, Highland Heights, Mayfield Village, Bay Village, Rocky River, Kirtland, Kirtland Hills, Chester Township and Bratenahl.
