Scott Sill’s photography exhibit showcasing his journey through Asia, “When You Travel You Are Never Lost,” will be on display through Sept. 5 at the Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood.
The exhibition features photos taken in different countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, Bali, China and his recent expedition to India. The show opened July 11 in the Mandel JCC’s main hallway and photographs are available for purchase.
Sill graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., and has lived his adult life in Cleveland, Los Angeles and Miami. His work has been published in Vogue, Seventeen and Ocean Drive magazines.
Sill set out in 2010 without having much experience traveling or as a travel photographer. He sought to capture something special in his journey across Asia and found himself photographing what he calls “tradition.”
“I don’t know how long traditions will last in this world,” he said. “They are beginning to vanish. ... I didn’t set out to capture this, it’s what I found or what found me.”
