Orry Jacobs lives a block away from the edge of the Cleveland Eruv.

The Beachwood East Eruv Society's eruv was kosher for Shabbos of Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, treasurer Orry Jacobs said.

However, there has been trouble with the phone line where people can get verification, he said.

The eruv, a series of linked doorways, delineates domestic space allowing observant Jews to carry objects and push strollers and wheelchairs on Shabbos.

The boundaries run from I-271 at Cedar Road west to Richmond, south on Richmond to Shaker Boulevard westbound and east back to I-271.

Jacobs said the society has reached its fundraising goal of $25,000.

The eruv was deemed functional on Nov. 22 for its first Shabbos.

That phone line is 216-219-5713. Its website is bees-eruv.org. Its Facebook page is at Facebook.com/Beachwood East Eruv Society-BEES.
