Members of our congregations who are lifting up those around them to better and strengthen Northeast Ohio’s Jewish community; family members or neighbors who are working in the community or enacting positive changes through a local organization or association; and colleagues or peers who are climbing the ladder or otherwise making a name for themselves in their chosen profession.
Young Jewish people that fit these descriptions – or play one of many other important and noteworthy roles in the community – are all around us, and people like these are who the Cleveland Jewish News is seeking to recognize through a new initiative, 12 Under 36: Members of the Tribe.
This year’s inaugural 12 Under 36 is expected to become an annual recognition of Jewish young professionals who are influencing the future of Northeast Ohio through professional or personal achievements. Each year, that recognition will be accompanied by an event to celebrate those achievements.
“When we launched 18 Difference Makers in 2015, we recognized there was so much good being done by so many dedicated and generous members of Jewish Cleveland and Northeast Ohio,” said Kevin S. Adelstein, publisher and CEO of the Cleveland Jewish News and president of the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company. “This new recognition and event expands our ability to recognize the next wave of Jewish influencers.
“Our vision for 12 Under 36: Members of the Tribe is to showcase the future of our community – those men and women who demonstrate the willingness and ability to further advance Northeast Ohio’s rich and vibrant Jewish community,” he added. “These honorees are Northeast Ohio’s next generation of Jewish leaders.”
The 2018 Cleveland Jewish News class of 12 under 36 – a nod to the 12 tribes of Israel – will be announced June 29 in the Cleveland Jewish News, at cjn.org, on Facebook at facebook.com/clevelandjewishnews, and on Twitter and Instagram at @CleveJN.
The inaugural class of 12 Under 36: Members of the Tribe will be recognized in a commemorative special section in the Aug. 24 issue of the CJN. Additionally, each honoree and a guest will be invited to an awards event on Aug. 23. Tickets for the event will go on sale to the public June 29.
