National Night Out, a campaign promoting improving community-police relationships, is Aug. 6 and will be held in millions of neighborhoods across the United States, including several communities in the Cleveland area – including Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, Lyndhurst, Richmond Heights, Solon, South Euclid and University Heights. Activities will vary by community.
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center, 25125 Fairmount Blvd.
The Beachwood Police and the Beachwood Fire and Rescue departments will have vehicles on display. Residents will be able to meet the new police dogs, Jorik and Kai. There will be an outdoor showing of the movie “Zootopia” at 6:30 p.m., and food and activities will be avalaible. For more information, visit beachwoodohio.com.
6 to 9 p.m. at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Blvd.
The Cleveland Heights Police Department will have officers from the SWAT team, bomb squad and K-9 units on hand, and members of the Cleveland Heights Fire Department will also be there, along with food and activities. For more information, visit clevelandheights.com.
6 to 9 p.m. at Lyndhurst Park, 1341 Parkview Drive.
The Lyndhurst Police Department will have a police vehicle and the Lyndhurst Fire Department will have a truck on display. There will be food, raffle prizes, face painting, a magician and live music from Dennis Ford at the park gazebo. For more information, visit lyndhurst-oh.com.
6 to 8 p.m. at the Richmond Heights Community Park, 26789 Highland Road.
The Richmond Heights Police Department and the Richmond Heights Division of Fire will have service vehicles on display, as well as food and activities. There will be a raffle and a bake sale to raise funds for a new K-9 unit. For more information, visit richmondheightsohio.org.
