Israel Bonds will honor Martin H. Belsky for his leadership and dedication to the community, Jewish life and Israel at a dessert reception at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Shaw Jewish Community Center, 750 White Pond Drive in Akron.

Alon Ben-Gurion, grandson of David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister and founder of Israel Bonds, will be the guest speaker.

Belsky is the Randolph Baxter Professor of Law at the University of Akron School of Law and was formerly was the dean of the law school.

He is a member of the Akron Jewish Community board; chair of the Akron Jewish Community Relations Committee; board member of Congregation Beth El; Advisor to University of Akron Hillel; former chair and present board member of the Ohio/Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia region of the Anti-Defamation League; board member and former president of Ohio Jewish Communities; and board member and former vice-chair of the Jewish Council on Public Affairs.

Belsky is married to Kathleen Waits and they have two children and two grandchildren.
