Jewish rapper Rami Even-Esh – who performs using the moniker Kosha Dillz – will headline “Cruel Winter Fest” Dec. 13 at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights.

The Tel Aviv resident has been featured on tracks with artists such as Matisyahu and Rapper Pooh. He also starred in a video this year with Joyner Lucas.

In a Dec. 3 email to the Cleveland Jewish News, Even-Esh said he’s been coming to Cleveland since 2010.

This will be his last trip “before the decade,” he added.

Noting he will only be in Cleveland for one night – “sort of sad but it is what it is,” Even-Esh said, “I love the city and the grit of Ohio. Something special about the Browns and Indians and all the music.”

Asked how he became involved in the sixth installment of Cruel Winter Fest, Even-Esh said he contacted “venues around the world” and connected with Grog Shop owner Kathy Blackman.

“Kathy is a good person that kinda understood what I was doing as a brand and the Jewish angle and the music angle,” Even-Esh said. Blackman “let me open up for people no one else would let me play shows with.”

“When you ask 49 people and the 50th person gets it, it keeps you going,” Even-Esh added.

Prior to the event, Even-Esh will host a shabbat dinner at B-Side Liquor Lounge in Cleveland Heights, which is also owned by Blackman.

He said he organized the dinner through OneTable, a national nonprofit funded to support people looking to find and share shabbat dinners.

“They have helped me put it up on tour for Vans Warped Tour,” Even-Esh said. “Now we saw a cool opportunity to make something happen that is a first-time thing in Cleveland.”

Other artists performing at this year’s Cruel Winter Fest include Sam Supreme, Peter Blanco, Logan, Joey James, Spazzplot, Marcus Smith, Y.A.Y.A., Cel, Marquis Storm, PCE, Latchkey, 4our Seasons and DFG Sul.
