Michael Siegal, executive chairman of the board of Olympic Steel, was given a lifetime achievement award from the Metals Service Center Institute.
According to it's website, the Metals Service Center Institute is, “an organization that supports and represents the broadest representation of the metals value chain, including metals producers, distributors, and processors and, to a lesser extent, the interests of metals users.”
Siegal, a Beachwood resident, said it is “very nice to be recognized for my life’s work.”
“It’s a nice recognition,” he said. “The people who work at Olympic Steel, I get the accolades but the reality is, it’s recognizing the company and the efforts to actually try and be a model of good citizenship, as well as financially and fiscally responsible for shareholders and constituents. It’s a nice recognition for lots of people’s efforts over the years. I’m just the guy that gets the sun spot.”
Siegal, who stepped down as the CEO of Olympic Steel at the end of 2018 and transitioned to his position as executive chairman of the board, is also chairman of the board of governors for The Jewish Agency for Israel, the largest Jewish nonprofit organization in the world.
