Solon City Council voted to place a mixed-use zoning district proposal on the November ballot at its July 15 meeting.
The zoning proposal is for the former Liberty Ford site at 31875 to 31885 Aurora Road.
“We have an older site on a rural road which used to be Liberty Ford,” Solon Mayor Eddy Kraus said. “We’re looking to rezone that property into a mixed-use development and we’re hoping to attract a good mix here. That is going to be on the ballot in November 2019 to rezone it. It has to pass the city before we can do anything.
“That might be an interesting thing to cover as we move through the process. It is something a lot of our residents have been talking about – but it goes to the whole concept of making the community more walkable and connected and that is what the people really want.”
According to documents at a city of Solon public hearing, the mixed-use property will feature commercial and residential properties.
Liberty Ford moved to 900 N. Aurora Road in Aurora in 2018.
