ORT America, World ORT and World Jewish Congress are launching a visual education campaign to commemorate the Holocaust called “We Remember,” which will culminate on Holocaust Memorial Day, Jan. 27.
“The goal is to create a powerful expression of our respect for history and faith in the future,” said Gary Desberg, president of ORT America, Northeast Ohio. “The importance of a mass participation campaign such as this, at a time when Holocaust survivors are dwindling in numbers and Holocaust denial continues to infect minds, cannot be overestimated.”
This campaign includes photographs and video clips of people of all ages holding signs saying, “We Remember.” Individuals and groups are asked to create or print a sign, take a group or individual photo or video and email it to
email@example.com for inclusion on the World Jewish Congress website. Photos must be 5MB or less.
Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos via social media using #WeRemember and encourage friends and families to participate.
“It’s an opportunity to remind young people how fortunate we are, and to remember those who never lived their dreams,” said ORT America Ohio Region director Char Rapoport Nance.
