The annual JCC Maccabi games are right around the corner and the Cleveland delegation from the Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood plans to send 65 athletes to the event, which this year will be held in two host cities, in Atlanta from July 28 to Aug. 2 and in Detroit from Aug. 4 to Aug. 9.
The Mandel JCC delegation features students competing in volleyball, track and field, baseball, basketball, soccer, ice hockey, swimming and flag football this year, including fielding an entire ice hockey team from the area. In a first for the Mandel JCC, Cleveland will also have six students performing in the ArtsFest portion of the games, in areas such as dance, musical theater and culinary skills. The delegation will send 44 students to Atlanta and 21 students to Detroit.
