The Cleveland Jewish News and Buffalo Wild Wings Warrensville Heights are partnering again to honor a high school player of the week.
Each week for 10 weeks, a top Jewish athlete will be honored, beginning Aug. 30 and concluding Nov. 1. Each athlete will be recognized with a feature article that will appear in the CJN, as well as at cjn.org and across social media platforms.
The athletes will be honored at a dinner ceremony at Buffalo Wild Wings, 26200 Harvard Road in Warrensville Heights. The athletes, their parents, coaches and athletic directors will be invited to the awards event.
"We are extremely excited about continuing our partnership with the Cleveland Jewish News and the athlete of the week promotion,’” said Colleen Flowers, director of marketing, Buffalo Wild Wings Warrensville Heights. “Highlighting the talented students both on and off the court/field makes us proud to be a part of this amazing community. Good luck to all the teams and athletes this fall, we can’t wait to see all winners.”
Bob Jacob, managing editor of the CJN, said, “We launched the player of the week feature nine years ago and can’t be more grateful to Colleen and Buffalo Wild Wings Warrensville Heights for being our valued partner for the last six years. Together, we have recognized more than 100 outstanding Jewish student-athletes since inception. The CJN and Buffalo Wild Wings are strongly committed to highlighting the accomplishments of our area students and this is just one more way we can provide some recognition.”
The award is open to all Jewish athletes who compete in a fall varsity sport. They can play for any school in Northeast Ohio. Each weekly winner will receive a plaque recognizing his or her achievement at the awards ceremony.
Coaches, athletic directors, family or friends can nominate an athlete. Email firstname.lastname@example.org by noon on Sunday of each week to nominate an athlete for consideration. Include the athlete’s name, school, any statistics you have for the previous week’s games, and his or her contact information.
