Orange High School junior Harrison Pyner was selected for the 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games’ youth 18U basketball team, which will compete July 5-15 in Mexico City.
Pyner, a Pepper Pike resident and a member of Park Synagogue in Cleveland Heights and Pepper Pike, just finished his junior season for the Orange High School Lions’ basketball team. He will depart for Dallas July 1 for a training camp before leaving for Mexico City July 5. He’ll be one of 12 players representing the U.S. on the youth 18U team.
Steve Graber, assistant program director for Maccabi USA, which sponsors the U.S. teams to the World Maccabiah Games, the JCC Maccabi Games and the Pan American Maccabi Games, said members of the youth 18U basketball team had to undergo an application process that included the players’ previous competition history and submitting game tape for the Pan American Maccabi Games coaches to review.
Pyner was also a Cleveland Jewish News-Buffalo Wild Wings Warrensville Heights Player of the Week in January 2018.
He is the son of Robin Pyner and Brad Pyner.
