The Cleveland Jewish News article on Beachwood Place accurately reflected the challenges that malls are experiencing nationally and the reasons they need to continue to evolve. (“What’s in store for Beachwood Place,” July 12)

The illustration included in the article was created by CJN and is not based on any plan from Brookfield Properties. In fact, the illustrated plan would not be acceptable under either the current or proposed zoning code.

If, and when, a proposal is submitted by Brookfield Properties, it will receive careful review by the city of Beachwood’s professional staff, planning and zoning commission, and city council to assure that it is beneficial to both Beachwood Place and the city of Beachwood.

Orry Jacobs, Chair

Beachwood Planning and Zoning Commission
